Jessica Greaux, DC, ART:

drjessDr. Greaux runs a multi-disciplined sports medicine business in Berkeley, CA treating elite, amateur and weekend warrior athletes alike.  She feels patients come to her not just because they are in pain, but because they can’t do something.  Her goal is getting them back to doing what they love and better than before by using Active Release Techniques (ART), Chiropractic, and most importantly rehabilitative exercises correcting biomechanical dysfunction.  She feels that unless you determine the cause of the aberrant movement, pain, or scar tissue, the client will keep coming through your door with the same problem.  Her goal is to try to eliminate the cause by breaking down movements to find the weak links.  She is inspired by Gary Gray, PT and Gray Cook, PT who are pioneers in functional movement analysis and correction.

Dr. Greaux graduated Magna Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West in 2001 in which she earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic.  Previously, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 1995 from Brown University where she also earned top honors as a Varsity athlete on the Brown Women’s Soccer Team.  She is an avid cyclist and runner and continues to play soccer in the Bay Area sponsoring a women’s team in an indoor league.  She is also an instructor for Active Release Techniques where she has Biomechanics, Nerve Entrapment, Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity, and Spine Certifications.  In addition to treating athletes at Innersport, she writes informative newsletters and blogs to share her expertise and knowledge with fellow athletes.  Dr. Greaux has also volunteered her services at Ironman Championships in Kona, HI as well as University of California, Berkeley Sports medicine department where she continues to be a consultant today.  Her volunteer services also include Oakland Marathon, AIDS Lifecycle in which she helped develop an Injury Prevention Manual for the riders, as well as countless treatments and talks at AIDS Marathon trainings, Team in Training meetings, See Jane Run events, Bike Against the Odds events, Lake Merrit and Joggers guest speaker, and Sports Basement talks.

Movement analysis via frame by frame editing software is so important to Dr. Greaux in discovering the TRUTH behind injuries, that she decided to start Press Play Analysis to help other practitioners identify the weak links and compensations so they can have another tool to treat injuries and enhance performance.  Press Play Analysis gives her an opportunity to collaborate with some of the best sports medicine practitioners in the Bay Area.  In the future, she hopes to add the possibility of having clients from all over the world upload their videos via the internet (Dartfish software and Dartfish.tv have the capabilities to do so) for her to analyze.

Press Play Analysis’ name has a silly origin.  Dr. Greaux loves her morning coffee.  She freshly grinds Peets French Roast to make every morning.  Whether it’s an automatic coffee maker with an “on” button to press, or a French press where you have to press down the strainer, she would often refer to it as “Press Play”.   Since coffee is such an integral part of her daily routine, she thought how fitting it would be to have that as the name of her new business.  Because after all, the client just has to “Press Play” and the truth behind their dysfunction will be revealed!
